Telekom Slovenije has upgraded its Urbana mobile app, which provides contactless payment for city bus rides and city infrastructure services in Ljubljana, and also made it available to users of devices with the iOS operating system (Apple iPhone).
Until now the app was only available for mobile phones with the Android operating system. With this upgrade Urbana also brings another new feature, simple cashless mobile parking fee payments with the Upark system. The new version of the app is already available on Google Play and in App Store.
Users of the Urbana app can now use the updated Urbana SMS parking system, which has been upgraded to allow parking payment using the Upark system module, which only requires one click on the Upark icon, now a part of the app’s menu bar. This makes cashless and contactless parking fee payment even easier and faster, as it can be completed through the app, and without walking to a parking meter. Users only need to select the parking zone, either manually or automatically (if they have location services on), enter their vehicle’s license plate number, and the desired duration of parking. After the transaction is completed, they receive a proof of payment and a notification for how long the parking fee is valid.
The Urbana app makes it possible to use the Urbana single city card in a virtual format on smart phones, providing a fast, simple and secure method of contactless payment for riding the city bus in Ljubljana (LPP), for parking fees (LPT), and the funicular car onto the Ljubljana Castle, as well as the BicikeLJ city bicycle service. It also provides users with information on their balance, past use and transaction history, along with other information, such as the availability of Urbanomat machines, locations where Urbana is sold, etc.
Urbana also allows users to transfer buses for free within a 90-minute period, to pay for a bus ride for several passengers at the same time, and check real-time information on bus arrivals at LPP bus stops and other travel information.
Urbana also allows users to pay for parking at all parking lots operated by the municipal parking company (JP LPT), and provides the information on the cost and duration of the parking, with the option of extending parking remotely.
An additional advantage of the app is the possibility of topping up the Urbana virtual card directly from a mobile phone by using the VALÚ smart wallet service.
