Telekom Slovenije is constantly growing and upgrading its network with new technologies, bringing users the latest telecommunication services, and in May it will raise internet speeds for all its subscribers to the popular fixed NEO Svet C and NEO SuperNet plans on the fibre optic network.
Both plans now support gigabit speeds on the fibre optic network, with a downlink speed of 1 Gbps and uplink of 100 Mbps. Gigabit speeds are also available to subscribers of other fixed plans at request.
Telekom Slovenije manages the biggest and most advanced fibre optic network in the country, available to more than 411,000 Slovenian households, i.e., more than a half. Just in 2021 it extended its fibre optic network to provide access to additional 42,150 households. The high-performance network provides high-speed internet access to households and businesses across Slovenia, while giving local operators who also use its network the chance to provide high-quality connections on locations where they have no infrastructure of their own. Over the past few years, the company has put over EUR 100 million per year towards upgrading, expanding and developing its networks and the ICT infrastructure.
“Telekom Slovenije is committed to developing state-of-the-art technologies, as we want to provide our users with the best services and the best user experience. The utilisation of new XGS-PON technology is ushering fast and high-quality fixed broadband connections on the fibre optic network. COVID-19 has further exposed the need for cutting-edge and stable remote connections, as they are, and will remain, essential for video technology, virtual reality, telemedicine and other advanced services. Our advanced fibre optic and mobile access networks strengthen our position of technology leader on the market, as these technologies will bring new features for even more effective operations across all industries,” emphasised Mitja Štular, PhD, Management Board member of Telekom Slovenije, responsible for technology.
Because the volume of transferred data is constantly growing, along with the needs for high-speed data transfer, the development in telecommunications is not slowing down. Already in 2020 Telekom Slovenije has successfully tested advanced technological solution that brings symmetrical gigabit connections to users on the fibre optic network with speeds of up to 10 Gbps, while continuing with activities for the construction of the 10 Gbps XGS-PON fibre optic network across the whole country.
Users are transferring increasingly greater volumes of data in Telekom Slovenije’s network, which requires consistent technological development and constantly adding new features. Telekom Slovenije is successful in this endeavour, as is evident from the trust its users place in the company, voting Telekom Slovenije’s mobile and fixed networks as the best in Slovenia.
