Telekom Slovenije has fully entered the gigabit world and will increase speeds across its network. From now NEO subscription plans offer gigabit speeds and a refreshed, unified user experience across all devices, including on smart TVs and the web. In addition, NEO now provides free TV programme subtitling.
Telekom Slovenije has developed this solution utilising its years of experience with NEO voice control and advanced artificial intelligence, which can provide high-quality subtitles even on channels that do not otherwise offer them. This makes TV content more accessible to vulnerable groups, which is welcomed by the Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Societies of Slovenia.
Gigabit speeds now available across all NEO fibre subscription plans
Telekom Slovenije has decided to significantly increase speeds on fibre optics. As a market first, all subscribers of NEO and Net fibre subscription plans will now have internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps, while maintaining the same attractive and uniform price of EUR 29.99 for up to 2 years. Users can also opt for higher speeds of up to 5/5 Gbps, subject to technological capabilities and for an additional fee. Telekom Slovenije is already testing even more powerful connections. In addition, Telekom Slovenije continues to provide immediate connection to new subscribers.
NEO introduces automatic subtitling for everyone, including vulnerable groups
Telekom Slovenije’s experts, in collaboration with the Faculty of Computer and Information Science of the University of Ljubljana, have developed an advanced solution that allows NEO to provide automatically generated subtitles. The system recognises spoken words and uses artificial intelligence to create high-quality subtitles. Slovenian subtitles are supported for Slovenian-speaking channels and English subtitles for English-speaking channels. The service is available for time-shifted viewing and will be available for live TV in the future.
"In addition to improved accessibility for people with hearing impairments, the function is also useful in many other situations. One common example is when watching television in a noisy environment, and the use of subtitles is also helpful when learning a language, as it makes it easier to remember new expressions and correct pronunciation. The automatic subtitling feature is a welcome addition to the NEO multimedia platform, and is one of those that many will be happy about. There is no doubt that people will enjoy using it, and with this upgrade Telekom Slovenije is continuing to keep to its promise of constantly upgrading the NEO experience," emphasised Katja Šajnovič, Business Development Director at Telekom Slovenije.

The unified NEO experience across all screens and devices is now even better
Telekom Slovenije also presented the redesigned NEO.io service for watching TV content on the web and NEO TV Lite for watching TV content on smart TVs. It introduces improved performance and a unified user experience across all screens – TV, PC, smart TV and mobile devices.
