Telekom Slovenije has launched a new advanced solution Varen splet (Secure Web), which provides both businesses and residential users with a comprehensive protection of their internet traffic, both in the mobile and the fixed network, as well as when roaming in foreign mobile networks.
The Varen splet service provides security content filtering, which is especially welcome in the period when users are increasingly receiving email and text messages with various malicious links, while the number of malicious websites, such as fake online stores, is also growing. Users can simply activate the service with a few clicks, without any need for installing additional equipment or software. Residential users can also take advantage of the parental control feature for secure internet use and limiting access to content, inappropriate for children. Businesses can take advantage of the Varen poslovni splet (Secure Business Web) to effectively protect their employees when working at the office, from home, on the field or on trips, while also protecting their information-communication systems.
The Varen splet solution recognises malicious websites and protects users from online fraud and transferring harmful software to their computers and mobile phones. The solution blocks access to a harmful website, making the user also safe from attempted theft or abuse of personal data, such as passwords, credit card data, personal data, etc. Telekom Slovenije blocks over 1000 attempted attempts to access such websites per day, and protects users from more than 8 million malicious websites with its Varen splet service.
Varen splet protects the whole family – parents and children
Along with the above security mechanisms that ensure a secure access to the web, Varen splet also provides parents with parental control features, which means that parents can prevent their child from accessing inappropriate websites. To make use easier, websites are categorised, so that the user can select a category they want to filter or block (e.g., adult content, violent content, entertainment content, no advertisements). Users can also enter an address of a certain website that they want to either block or provide access to.
Residential users can simply activate the Varen splet service using the Moj Telekom app or portal, where they can also manage the service, while mobile subscribers can also opt to activate it by sending the text message VAREN SPLET to 1918. The service is free for the first two months, then the monthly subscription fee is EUR 0.99 (for subscribers to mobile services) or EUR 1.49 (for subscribers to fixed services and the mobile internet service).
