Telekom Slovenije has improved mobile network coverage in the Poljane Valley with the installation of a new base station. The new base station has improved mobile network coverage in the area of Poljane nad Škofjo Loko, the settlement of Hotovlje with its surroundings, Predmost and Dobje, as well as on the road connecting Gorenja vas and Škofja Loka. A section of this area had very weak or even no coverage at all.
Telekom Slovenije launched the activities to establish the base station three years ago. During this time, they prepared the project documentation and obtained all the necessary permits, approvals and consents for performing the works. The construction was demanding, as the location is on a hillside, and the installation had to take into account the distances from neighbouring plots, access to the base station, the nearby route of electrical lines and the road for access to other plots. The fibre-optics connection for connecting the base station to the network has been laid underground along the entire route, which ensures even greater connection security. Despite the demanding implementation, the base station was established in the shortest possible time, also due to the exceptional cooperation of the locals.
