18. 12. 2025

Telekom Slovenije, a key driver of digitisation in the country, has achieved a new strategic milestone. More than half a million Slovenian households – nearly 60 percent the total – now have access to its state-of-the-art fibre-optic network. With this achievement, Telekom Slovenije has consolidated its position as the leading fibre optics provider in the country and its commitment to providing secure, reliable and future-proof infrastructure for all residents of Slovenia.

Telekom Slovenije, a key driver of digitisation in the country, has achieved a new strategic milestone. More than half a million Slovenian households, representing almost 60 percent of all households in Slovenia*, now have access to its state-of-the-art fibre-optic network. With this achievement, Telekom Slovenije has consolidated its position as the leading fibre optics provider, focused not only on expanding internet access but also on pushing the boundaries of performance. The network that according to the Valicon survey (Brand Track, autumn 2025) users have rated as the best in Slovenia already offers exceptional symmetrical speeds of up to 5 Gbps in both directions, while new XGS-PON technology supports speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

This technological and infrastructural leap is the result of systematic, long-term investments. Telekom Slovenije is not resting on its laurels, as it is already carrying out extensive investments in the future, operating in a challenging environment with disproportionate regulation that hinders its full development potential.

“At Telekom Slovenije, we have already connected a large part of the country with a modern fibre-optic network, and in the coming years, we plan to continue with construction in areas where fibre is not yet available and where construction is economically viable. In areas where the fibre-optic network has not yet been built, we provide top-quality broadband internet access via our cutting-edge 5G network, which covers 99% of the population of Slovenia,” emphasised Vesna Prodnik, Member of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije.

Telekom Slovenije's network is not only reliable because of its top-notch speeds, but also because of its resilience and security. The infrastructure is designed with geographical redundancy, ensuring a high level of operation even in the event of extraordinary incidents. Telekom Slovenije is also recognised as the leading bulwark of digital security in the country. Behind the network's operation stands the Cybersecurity and Resilience Centre, where more than 100 top experts look after the security of systems and users 24 hours a day. Security solutions, such as the internationally awarded Varen splet (Safe Internet), already actively protect more than 150,000 users from online fraud and malicious code.

Top-quality service and user satisfaction are also confirmed by the Best Buy Award for the 2025/2026 period, conferred by the Swiss organisation ICERTIAS. Based on independent market research, users identified Telekom Slovenije as the provider with the best price performance ratio in the category of fibre-optic internet access and reliable connections. Telekom Slovenije invites everyone to step into the digital future with the highest speed and reliability. Check the availability of the fibre-optic network at your address.
