Independent tests confirm: Telekom Slovenije has the best tested mobile network in Slovenia

Ljubljana, 19 March – The independent test made by the German company P3 communications has shown that Telekom Slovenije’s mobile network is the best tested in Slovenia. Telekom Slovenije was awarded P3’s Best in Test certificate, which is a global industry standard for measuring network quality and user satisfaction.

P3’s experts conducted the measurements between October 2018 and December 2018 in over 88% of the build-up areas and on numerous traffic routes around Slovenia. The test focused on 5 network elements: coverage of voice, data transfer and LTE/4G, as well user download speed and data network availability. Telekom Slovenije’s mobile network received the highest total overall score.

Telekom Slovenije’s LTE/4G network, which was commercially launched 6 years ago on 20 March, currently covers above 98% of the population, while the LTE-Advanced (4G+) network, which brings even higher mobile data transfer speeds (of up to 300 Mbps downlink and up to 50 Mbps uplink) covers more than 68% of the population. Telekom Slovenia’s LTE/4G mobile network is used on average by a half of all mobile users at the time, with more than 500,000 LTE devices connected to it so far. Compared to 2017, when Telekom Slovenije began upgrading its network with LTE-Advanced (4G+), mobile data traffic increased 3-fold, and 10-fold compared to 2013, when LTE/4G was first launched.

“The P3 certificate we received is yet another proof that constant investments in technology and development, and planned and professional work are reflected in the proven network quality. We provide users with the latest technologies and services and are also ready for future developments that the fifth generation of mobile networks (5G) will bring. We are also modifying our network to make it an innovation-friendly environment for the development of Internet of Things related solutions and new business models. Our activities focused on network development allow us to maintain our position of the most technologically advanced operator in the country,” said Tomaž Seljak, Vice President of Telekom Slovenije’s Management Board.

“I am happy to name Telekom Slovenije as best rated network in our benchmarking test. This means that from nearly 151 million samples, covering more than 88 percent of Slovenia’s populated areas, Telekom Slovenije provides the best rated network in test, showing a very good customer experience, achieving best results in 4G coverage and User Download Speed. P3 measures networks in more than 120 countries worldwide. With our crowdsourced methodology we deliver results from all countries all over the world,” said Hakan Ekmen, CEO of P3 communications.

The telecommunications market demands that operators constantly focus on development, if they want to remain competitive in the long run. Consequently, Telekom Slovenije has for the past few years put the majority of investments towards the expansion of its fibre optics network that supports high internet access speeds and a top-of-the-line broadband experience, as well as continued modernization of the mobile network, which requires constant upgrades in the scope of preparations for 5G.
