Digital innovations for better living – March 2026

18. 3. 2026

With record-breaking technological advances, Telekom Slovenije is reinforcing its position as a leading operator and a central guardian of digital life.

An outstanding user experience has been confirmed by five international Ookla awards for the best mobile network, while advanced 5G and record speeds on the 26 GHz frequency band are setting new connectivity milestones. Its most advanced network, already reaching 99% of the population with 5G, is further enhanced with proactive cybersecurity protection for hundreds of thousands of users and businesses. The range of products now also includes the latest smartphones from the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and the new iPhone 17e, both accompanied by attractive benefits for subscribers. In line with sustainable and responsible operations, technology also supports those most vulnerable, with the free E-Care service providing safe and independent living for older people and persons with disabilities.

Telekom Slovenije receives five prestigious awards at MWC in Barcelona
Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® measurements for the second half of 2025 once again confirmed the exceptional speed, responsiveness and reliability of our network. As a result, Telekom Slovenije received five prestigious awards at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona: the best, the fastest and mobile network and best coverage, as well as best mobile gaming and video experience. The awards were accepted on behalf of the company by Vesna Prodnik, MSc, Member of the Management Board, and Matjaž Beričič, MSc, Director of Network and Infrastructure, and represent an important independent confirmation of the company’s commitment to delivering a premium user experience, supported by real-world data. Vesna Prodnik, MSc, Member of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije, pointed out: “I believe that the future development of the telecommunications sector will be shaped primarily by the maturity and monetisation of 5G, the systematic use of artificial intelligence in managing and optimising networks and services, strengthening digital sovereignty through the development of secure, regulatory-compliant, AI-supported data centres, communication solutions for critical communications, and the first steps in quantum technologies and 6G, for which Telekom Slovenije is already strategically and technologically prepared.”

Telekom Slovenije achieves record data transmission and the most advanced core network
In cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, Telekom Slovenije has set a new technological milestone with a successful demonstration of 5G technology in the 26 GHz frequency band, achieving a record uplink data transmission speed of 2 Gbps. The use of millimetre waves opens a new chapter in connectivity, crucial for advanced smart industry, wireless 4K/8K video production, and reliable performance at large-scale events. This innovation breakthrough coincides with the successful completion of a comprehensive modernisation of the mobile core network. With the transition to standalone 5G architecture and VoNR technology, Telekom Slovenije ranks among Europe’s technological leaders. Investments in sustainable, secure and robust infrastructure are delivering tangible results: advanced 5G now covers 99% of the population, while the fibre-optic network is available to more than 504,000 households.

Advanced protection for a secure digital environment
Artificial intelligence has significantly accelerated and enhanced online threats in 2025. Among the most common attacks are malware and localised phishing scams that misuse the identities of well-known domestic banks and delivery services. As attackers rapidly switch malicious domains, traditional device-based protection is often no longer sufficient. Telekom Slovenije is therefore strengthening its role as a key guardian of digital life through its advanced Cybersecurity and Resilience Centre, going beyond the role of a traditional telecommunications operator. A team of more than 100 experts ensures continuous, 24/7 neutralisation of sophisticated AI-driven attacks, with top standards also confirmed by the CyberVadis gold medal. The necessity of proactive defence is clearly demonstrated by the Safe Internet solution, which blocks threats at the network level. It currently protects more than 240,000 users and has prevented as many as 63 million security incidents in December 2025 alone. Telekom Slovenije is also strategically investing in the long-term empowerment of users through the educational platform Enjoy Intelligently, building a safe digital future for all generations.

E-Care for safe living at home
Telekom Slovenije provides the E-Care service, which has been since 1 July 2025 one of the rights under long-term care and supports safe and independent living at home for older people, persons with disabilities and chronic patients. The service is completely free of charge for eligible users, with the application process starting at the relevant social work centre. Individuals aged over 80 do not require a prior eligibility assessment. After receiving the decision, Telekom Slovenije takes full responsibility for the required documentation and ensures professional installation of equipment at the user’s home. Anyone interested can see how the E-oskrba system works in practice at any Telekom Slovenije Sales Centre in the country.
