Having completed upgrades of the core of its mobile network to 5G Standalone technology, a record 99% population coverage, and the biggest fibre optics network in the country – complemented where this is not yet available by fixed wireless access (FWA) technology – Telekom Slovenije is strengthening its position as the leading communications backbone of Slovenia.
The company further enhanced its technological strength by enriching the user experience through the exclusive launch of the BBC Player service on the NEO platform, and by reinforcing the digital sovereignty of the economy through certified cloud solutions. The company has confirmed its status as one of the most reputable employers for the fifth consecutive year with the Top Employer certificate, while its strong integration into the social environment is reflected in its role as the selected national provider of the free E-oskrba service, which makes it possible vulnerable groups to live more safely at home.
A modernised core network, 99% 5G coverage and leading fixed internet places it in Europe’s technological elite
With the completion of a comprehensive modernisation of the core part of its mobile network, Telekom Slovenije has positioned itself among Europe’s leading telecommunications providers. The transition to the advanced 5G Standalone architecture opens the door to future innovations, as it not only delivers higher speeds but also allows the introduction of network slicing for industrial applications. Another important innovation is the implementation of VoNR technology, which provides voice services directly over 5G without the need to switch to 4G. This demanding technological upgrade, carried out entirely without disruption for end users, coincides with an exceptional expansion of network availability. Telekom Slovenije already achieves 99% population coverage with a 5G signal, while its fibre optics network now reaches more than half a million households, reinforcing the operator’s status as the most advanced communications backbone in the country. At the same time, a growing number of users are benefiting from wireless internet access and NEO via FWA technology, through which Telekom Slovenije delivers advanced solutions even in areas not yet covered by fibre optics infrastructure.
Sovereign and independent cloud services
In a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and strict regulatory requirements, the location and control of data are becoming crucial issues for the Slovenian economy and public administration. Telekom Slovenije addresses these challenges with its sovereign and independent cloud solutions, ensuring full digital sovereignty. The solution ensures that all sensitive data remain securely stored, processed and administered exclusively on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia, and on Telekom Slovenije’s own geographically redundant and certified infrastructure. Telekom Slovenije’s sovereign cloud combines the agility and scalability of modern cloud technologies with the security of a local environment. This prevents risks associated with cross-border data transfers and reduces dependence on global providers. As the leading national operator, Telekom Slovenije offers not only infrastructure capacity, but also comprehensive security management through its Cyber Security and Resilience Centre, allowing users a secure and uninterrupted digital transformation. All services are delivered on a turnkey basis, from planning to operation, with 24/7 technical support in the Slovenian language also available.
Virtual data centre lease
Maintaining in-house servers requires continuous investment, time and human resources as demands for reliability, security and flexibility continue to grow. Leasing a virtual data centre (VDC) offers businesses a comprehensive cloud infrastructure that effectively replaces or complements traditional physical IT environments, allowing companies to focus on their core business rather than hardware maintenance. Based on certified data centres in Slovenia, the solution ensures full digital sovereignty and data security, while providing exceptional flexibility, as customers can adjust processing power, memory and storage capacity to their current business needs through a single online interface. By adopting the operating expenditure (OpEx) model, Telekom Slovenije supports organisations of all sizes – from development teams to enterprises with hybrid environments – in optimising IT budgets, achieving high system availability and ensuring business continuity, supported by local experts available 24 hours a day.
Exclusively at Telekom Slovenije: BBC Player now free of charge on the NEO platform
Telekom Slovenije is the first in Slovenia to offer the BBC Player service to its subscribers at no additional cost, now fully integrated into the NEO platform. Users have access to more than 900 hours of premium British TV production, including award-winning series such as Sherlock, Happy Valley and This Is Going to Hurt, as well as a rich selection of documentary and children’s content. The service, which allows viewing on all devices, is already available to all NEO subscribers and will become an integral part of the most popular NEO C subscription plan on 30 April. This year, in cooperation with the BBC, Telekom Slovenije will also launch a new advertising service on BBC channels. It will be based on advanced targeting and data-driven campaigns, and developed in collaboration with Telekom Slovenije’s subsidiary TSmedia. The new service will provide advertisers with the option to connect more effectively with audiences in a premium environment, in line with integrated advertising trends.
E-Care and safe living at home
Telekom Slovenije was selected in a public tender as the national provider of the E-oskrba service (E-Care), which became one of the key rights under long-term care insurance as of 1 July 2025. This advanced assistance service is completely free of charge for all eligible users, and allows older people, persons with disabilities and those with chronic conditions to live safely and as independently as possible in their own homes. The process for new users begins with the application at the social work centre; once a decision is obtained, Telekom Slovenije ensures rapid installation of the required equipment and conclusion of the contract. For people aged over 80, the procedure is further simplified and does not require prior assessment. To better introduce the service closer to users and their relatives, Telekom Slovenije has opened a dedicated information point on Čopova Street in Ljubljana, and the emergency call system can also be tested at all other Telekom Slovenije centres.
Telekom Slovenije receives Top Employer certification for the fifth time
