Citypark shopping centre implements a system for remotely metering of utilities

22. 8. 2020

Citypark shopping centre in Ljubljana is now equipped with a telemetric system for remotely metering utilities. The cloud-based technological solution was developed for Citypark by Telekom Slovenije with its partner DS Meritve.

Its advantage and key characteristic is utilising the internet of things technology (Narrowband Internet of Things; NB-IoT in the 4G+ network) for remote and centralised automatic monitoring of public utilities, such as electricity, heat, water and gas.

Telekom Slovenije’s solution provides managers of business premises, office spaces and shopping centres the ability to monitor utility use digitally through a remote system based on NB-IoT technology. Remote metering is possible in real time, and this also provides the manager with an always-on insight into utility usage, allows them to analytically process the collected data, makes it easier to plan future energy needs, and take decisions regarding environmental care.

The solution from Telekom Slovenije and its partners is part of the services for which Telekom Slovenije provides the single platform for managing and monitoring the factors for providing an improved quality of living, based on NB-IoT technology. Such solutions are suitable for all business verticals, as well as business-critical communication, as it is now not even economically sensible to construct separate dedicated networks.

Telekom Slovenije also provides the digitalization of energy management systems for business premises. Using NB-IoT technology makes it possible to connect numerous battery-powered devices with support for machine to machine communication (M2M). NB-IoT also supports efficient mass communication of IoT-connected devices, and is a consistent part of the development towards 4G/5G technologies, which will co-exist on the same network, and will provide the potential for the development of the whole society in the coming decade.
